We all have them. Friends and relatives that no matter how many times you explain to them how to open attachments, they just don't get it. I try to make everything as simple as possible for them, but sometimes you just can't break it down enough. That's why I enjoy scoping out gear that makes technology fun and easy for people who still don't understand it all.
I found a great desktop application via Red Ferret, and I just had to share it with you, because I know this will be a time saver the next time you want to send and receive family pictures. Tubes is an application that lets you create a file sharing link between computers. This way you simply drag and drop digital files (pictures, music, video) to the application's window on your desktop, which then sends those files straight to the other person's desktop. You don't even have to compress or decompress the files. The site says Tubes "combines the speed of IM with the convenience of mobile communication and the reach of email." Tubes is in beta, which means you can use it for free. You get 2GB of disk space to save all the files you send and receive, and you can invite as many people as you'd like.
This would be a perfect way to send Mom pictures this Mother's Day, and vice versa.

Gina, It takes a few minutes to download but once it was set-up, my Mom loved it.... she said "what do I have to do" and I said "just turn on your computer and wait" (beleive me the less she has to do on the PC the better) I guess you can have multiple people add pictures and they will all go to her, so I am going to invite my brother and sister too. Thanks,
