Car technology has got to be reaching an all time high. Today's cars are equipped with GPS systems, Bluetooth, iPod connections, Internet access, and if all goes well, you'll soon be able to play all your high-definition DVDs in your car. The tight battle between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD doesn't keep manufacturers from looking into ways of bringing all that high-def goodness to the road—and something tells me their bets are on HD-DVD.

Toshiba exhibited an HD-DVD player for in-car use at the "Automotive Engineering Exposition 2007" in Japan last week, according to Tech Digest. The player is currently being developed in collaboration with Alpine Electronics, and expected to be in production by next year. The question is, do we really need it? Most cars today have very small screens anyway, so the idea seems pointless. It may be too early to tell how successful this player will be, since we haven't even decided on a format yet.
