We are ten days away from finally getting our hands on the iPhone (June 29), even if it's only at the Apple store. Are you buying one? If you are, then you'll be happy to know Apple just announced the iPhone will have a longer battery life. Yes, even longer than your old iPod.
Initially, they had claimed the iPhone would have a five hour battery life. Now they say the iPhone has exceeded expectations by providing eight hours of talk time, six hours of Internet use, seven hours of video playback, or 24 hours of audio playback based upon specific network configurations and "many other factors." They don't really say what factors, but I'm sure they include turning off a few features to save battery power.
To top things off, the company also announced that all iPhone displays have been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to achieve optical clarity and scratch resistance. Sounds like Apple is trying to improve in two of the most criticized areas.
The press release on Apple's website has a competitive data report comparing the iPhone to competitors that include the Nokia N95, Samsung Blackjack, Blackberry Curve, and Treo 750, all which have a talk time under 5.5 hours, plastic screens, and a more affordable price.Â
Anyone out there getting an iPhone?

I'm going to be camping out for the iPhone!!
they're still exaggerating the battery life. and so they've apparently "improved" that - so now it's heavier right? just wondering
Why does it feel like that the iPhone is going to have a 3g capabilityin a few months?... Are the people in Apple gonna call it the "iPhonei"?...hey wait, Mr. Jobs already said in an article that "it (3g capability) will come in th future"...told yah!
I'm going to hold out for the "2nd Generation". Anyone up for a colored phone? Something even thinner? Longer battery life? It happened with the iPod, why not the iPhone? (And prices will probably drop on the 1st Generation iPhone if a 2nd Generation comes out...note how much cheaper 1st generation iPod's are now?)
