This back-to-school shopping season, we'll see a lot of electronics that will appeal to the YouTube/MySpace crowd. The few digital and video cameras I've seen so far are designed to simplify things for the always connected user. Features like in-camera image resizing, YouTube capture mode, Wi-Fi, and infrared beaming are just some of the capabilities we'll start to see a lot more of.
The latest camera to target the fashion-conscious, tech savvy "Gen Z" crowd is the Fujifilm FinePix Z10fd with 7.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, and 54MB of internal memory. The campaign's tagline reads "Face it, Beam it, Blog it," so that should give an idea of what to expect. The camera includes face detection which scans and focuses on up to ten human faces then auto-corrects things like red eye. The beam it part lets you share pictures with other FinePix Z owners, so instead of taking a group picture with ten cameras, you take one, and beam it to others. And finally, the blogging feature resizes images to a size (640 x 480 or 320 x 240) that's appropriate for blogs, auction sites, and email.
In addition, the FinePix Z10fd is able to adjust the intensity of the flash depending on the amount of light in the room, and also has a Dual Shot Mode which lets you shoot two images in succession—one with flash and one without flash—so you decide which one looks best. The camera will be released in gorgeous colors like Wave Blue, Wasabi Green, Hot Pink, Sunset Orange, and Midnight Black. Expect it in stores this September for $199.95.

What a cool camera! I wish I had enough money for one. The "beam" feature of the camera is a cool idea.
