Back in the day, before we ever had MP3 players or CDs, people used to create one-of-kind mix tapes for friends and lovers. I guess this would be the equivalent of creating an iTunes playlist of your favorite songs for someone you care about; except somehow, burning music to a compact disc or sending someone music files over the Internet is not as romantic as the popular mix tape was.
Technabob found a company trying to bring the mix tape back in the form of a USB stick. Mix Tape USB is a flash drive packaged inside a container that looks like a cassette tape. When you flip open the cover, you'll find a small USB drive inside along with a track-list sheet. Remember those? Back then since tape players didn't have LCD screens, we had to write down the name of each song on the tape's cover.
The Mix Tape USB might look like a real mix tape, but being able to store music on a USB drive along with photos and other cheesy digital files for your lover, is a nice way of bringing together the best of both worlds.
Suck UK hasn't released pricing yet, but plans to start selling the Mix tape USB in September.
