You may remember my post on the widely criticized 300-page iPhone bill Justine Ezarik received earlier this month. The scandalous phone bill itemized every data transfer, text message, and call made on an unlimited data plan, which is mandatory for all iPhone users. The problem here wasn't the actual cost of the phone bill itself, but its unusual size.
The good news is AT&T is finally responding to customers' concerns by switching to summary billing. According to a text message sent to all iPhone users on Wednesday, AT&T will stop listing every single kilobyte exchange, and asks customers to view a detailed bill online instead. I doubt anyone will ever want to receive another bill in a box, but if you really must have a paper bill, you can request one for an extra $1.99 per month.
Why they didn't do this in the first place, is something I'd like to know. That move could've spared, both AT&T and Apple, from all the environmental backlash, especially since Al Gore sits on Apple's Board of Directors.

shoot! bump the iphone. let me get metro pcs and be happy! it's not that deep!
You are correct in questioning why this wasn't done in the first place. The harm a 300 page phone bill does to the environment is implausible and I can't AT&T lacked the staff with enough brainpower to stand up and say something. I know normally the saying is "better late than never" but in this case, it should have just NEVER happened... period!
Yawn, and a resounding "who cares"?

The miraculous answer to this problem is coming out very soon... the Universal Multimedia PDA/Cell Phone from Samsung. When it does arrive, we will no longer need to have this conversation. Wake up people, you must learn to trust your fellow geeks and techies!
