A Safer iPod Accessory for Cyclists

Every year, many joggers and cyclist are hurt or killed on the road because they play their music so loud, they can't hear traffic around them. I don't have a number, but I read these stories all time. In Australia, police have even told cyclists to avoid using an iPod on the road if they want to stay alive. The warning came after a cyclist listening to her iPod was knocked off her bike, and killed.

There's gear out there made specifically for cyclists who like to listen to music. One of them is called Slipstreamz, which creates a surround-sound effect inside your helmet without blocking traffic sounds completely, and soon there will be a wireless speaker option that's compatible with most iPods called Cy-Fi.

Cy-Fi speakers attach to the bike's handlebar, and connects to an iPod wirelessly using Kleer Audio Transmission. This way you can keep your iPod in your pocket, while you avoid wearing those dreadful earbuds. A wireless transmitter attaches to the bottom of the iPod, giving you the ability to broadcast music to up to four speakers, which means you and your friends can all listen to the same tunes. Cy-Fi will be available early next year, and will sell for $150. I think this is a great solution for iPod loving cyclists. What do you think?
