Serenata is Sweet Music to my Ears

It's hard to top the sexiness and price of the iPhone, but that doesn't stop anybody from trying. Now that the iPhone honeymoon is over for some, it's time to focus on the other sexy mobile phones vying for your attention. Like for example, the HTC Touch phone (soon-to-be-released in the U.S.) that's reportedly sold over 800,000 units in Europe and Asia since June, putting it at the top of the list of iPhone competitors. Then again, the iPhone won't be released in Europe until November, so it'll be interesting to see how the competition turns out. There's also the Prada and Armani phones for high-end users who can afford them; and I have a feeling the new Bang & Olufsen Serenata phone will be joining this elite class.

Today Bang & Olufsen launched an official website detailing every feature on the upcoming Serenata phone made by Samsung, and it looks amazing. Designer David Lewis modeled the stylish handset after seaside pebbles, which explains the smooth, rounded edges of the phone and sliding speaker behind it. When you hold the phone, your thumb naturally rests on the sensi-touch wheel to easily navigate through the phone's menu, and just below it is a full-color LCD screen. For a hands-free experience, it also features a table stand for playing music out loud or use it as a speaker phone.

Switching between phone and music is one click away, so you can loaded it up with up to 4GB or 1,000 of your favorite MP3s, AAC, and WMA music files. Taking a cue from the iPod, it displays album work that can be scrolled through using the sensi-touch wheel. It's 3.5G ready and has quad-band GSM support. Other extras include Bluetooth, USB connection, SMS, MMS, and special ringtones. No price has been disclosed yet, but it will be available starting this November.

Hmmm. Very nice indeed! I was listening to the demo on my PC speaker, which has inherently bad sound. The sound produced by the demo was so pleasing and rich I couldn't stop listening to it. This is a phone/music player I would save $$ to have. Good work B&O
