Some iPod accessories just make me cringe, and the nekFIT is one of them. What ever happened to armbands, and those quirky iPod caps? The market is so saturated with iPod accessories right now, that I think they've run out of good original ideas for new designs. Anyway, owners of the new iPod nano have another sport accessory to choose from, although I wouldn't recommend it if you regularly hit the trails.
Bloggers are talking about the nekFIT, which holds your iPod on the back of your neck to eliminate dangling wires. It includes several clips that fit both the iPod nano and iPod shuffle, and also a cord management system to keep your earbud wires organized. You can adjust it to fit perfectly behind your neck, and changing your tunes is easy since it has large tactile buttons over the clickwheel.
Sounds great for the gym, but I worry that having an iPod around your neck for all to see is just asking for trouble. Keeping your white earbuds out of sight is already bad enough, so why add to to your worries by wearing an iPod behind your neck? I personally don't think this is a safe alternative, and it even looks somewhat uncomfortable. Wouldn't it hurt to have an iPod bouncing off your neck when you jog? Anyway, if you've been looking for something like this, you can find it at nekfit.com for $34. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
Maybe I'm just being too critical, so tell me what you think? Is this a good or bad idea?

My mother always told me to be careful securing things around my neck (e.g. a scarf tied in a tight knot, choker-type jewelry, etc) because it makes it easy for a mugger to grab hold of you.
