Smoking is a hard habit to kick. To help smokers quit, FixNixer.com is using one personal gadget always with you: a cell phone. Since today's smokers are more willing to turn to social networks, discussion forums, and other web-based technologies for help, thousands of website have sprung up on the Internet to offer support.

Fix Nixer is one of them, and stands out for sending members text messages at times when smokers are the most vulnerable. By filling out a comprehensive questionnaire, the system is better able to determine the times you're most likely to light up, and sends you nagging text messages. For example, smokers who admit to turning to cigarettes when bored, would likely get a text message that reads: "Admit it. Being bored is a terrible excuse to use tobacco. Do you ever say 'I'm bored. I think I'll go expose myself to radiation'? No. Didn't think so." In addition, the system would also send reminders and suggestions to help smokers beat the urge.

As if that wasn't enough, friends and family can also use the service to nag you about your habit by signing up to send you text messages when they see you reaching for your pack of smokes. The service launched in March, and already has about 1,000 members participating in the program. Unfortunately, it's only open to residents in Colorado, although it plans to offer its service nationwide.
