First came the bulletproof backpacks, then the stabproof and GPS-enabled uniforms, now I hear ChildSafetyTech.com offers clothing and accessories with personal alarms. Are you starting to see the trend in personal safety here? According to Gizmodo and the site, Alarmwear products deter potential danger by drawing attention to the wearer when he/she pulls on a ring that sets off a 125-decibel alarm. The alarm is so loud, it'll stop people on their tracks who would otherwise be too busy talking on their phone or watching TV inside.

It should be a nice safety option for kids, but the company does make several items for adults like the ladies vest, a unisex jacket, a fanny pack and backpack. Similar items are available for children that are not too expensive ranging between $40-$60. It all reminds me of the AmberWatch I told you about a few months ago, which emits a 115-decibel distress signal and flashes LED lights when activated. I tested the watch a few times, and the sound it produces will definitely scare you, and anyone coming after you.

I think this trend in personal safety is here to stay, and why shouldn't it be? Every day we hear more and more stories of people being victimized right under our noses, because we're all too busy to notice. What do you think? Will personal alarms make you feel any safer on the street?
