Celebrities have it all, especially when it comes to gadgets, and if you want to get your products into celebrities' hands, Karen Wood is the woman you want to call. Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, and Halle Berry all flock to her Backstage Creations gift retreats to pick up the hottest products. These gift retreats are usually held in very swanky backstage lounges filled with swag for the taking. Here you'll find tables littered with expensive watches, the latest gadgets, the trendiest clothes, the coolest shoes, and even the best drink concoctions fit for a king and queen—and all celebs have to do is ask for one of each if they want.
Every year, you're bound to find Backstage Creations entertaining celebrities at award shows like Teen Choice, Kids Choice, Billboard, and Sundance, to name a few. So this year, I asked the ladies over at Backstage Creations what they thought were the hottest celebrity picks of the season. Karen Wood and Shruti Dhalwala tell me gadgets continued to be a big hit at their shows. "At our Golden Globes gift retreat, 'Dreamgirls' Jennifer Hudson, the darling of the award season this past year, stopped by the retreat specifically to pick up her BlackBerry Pearl! As a result, we aim to bring in at least one interesting electronic item to every suite because they're always a hit."
So what other swag are celebs scooping up backstage? Here's a list of what's been popular among Hollywood A-listers:
Jawbone
Shruti says, "Mobile phones and accessories are always a big hit, from the latest device such as the BlackBerry Pearl to the convenient, easy-to-use noise-canceling Bluetooth earpiece from Jawbone." Snoop Dog, Ludacris, Jordin Sparks, Apolo Ohno, Nick Cannon, and Chingy were all seen picking theirs up at the Teen Choice Awards this year. This Bluetooth headset is quickly becoming a favorite among the fashion-conscious gadget lover, especially now that it's being sold next to iPhones at the Apple store. In case you haven't heard, Jawbone is a sexy Bluetooth headset from Aliph that offers fully integrated Noise Shield technology—an advanced, military-grade noise-canceling system. The headset eliminates background noise and seamlessly adjusts speaker volume throughout calls resulting in clear conversations even in the most extreme environments.
Personal iPod Sounds Systems
The iPod continues to be the most popular MP3 player in the market. Accessorizing your iPod is a must, and what better way to share your music library with friends than to pick up a personal iPod sound system. The portable ones are extremely popular, and Backstage Creations tells me celebrities are always looking "for the next hot item that lets them get even more out of their iPod." Hillary Duff was seen picking up the Logitech AudioStation Express, while others were attracted to the playful surfer girl design on the Roxy I-P22 iPod Speakers.
Guitar Hero
What do Sanjaya, Miley Cyrus, Jared Padalecki. and Justin Guarini all have in common? No, they're not all former "American Idol" contestants, but they sure like to rock out on Guitar Hero. "At this years' Teen Choice awards, almost every celebrity attendee of our gift retreat could not stop playing Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s on site!" says Karen Wood. This game is so addicting and perfect for holiday get-togethers. If you love spandex, headbands, and ultra-hold hair spray, this is one game that will take you back to the funky '80s with songs like "I Want Candy" and "We Got the Beat." The game is totally RADICAL!
Mio Pup
This puppy was a big hit at the Teen Choice Awards too. The adorable robo-pup comes in many colors, walks, and plays music, and its eye-icons are constantly changing depending on its emotions. Now, we don't want you to replace your real dog, but if you have a soft spot for puppies, you won't be able to resist Mio Pup. So who else couldn't resist holding and kissing Mio at the Teen Choice Awards? Apparently, Vanessa Hudgens, Hillary Duff, and Miley Cyrus couldn't keep their hands off the cute little robo-puppy.
Hallmark Cards with Sound
Oh how times have changed! In this high-tech world, sending a Christmas card electronically is too impersonal. Besides, e-cards will never really evoke the same feeling mailed cards do. For this reason, Hallmark is adding a special little something to bring the two worlds together. Karen Wood tells me the new Hallmark cards now have sound! When you open them, they play music or messages from your favorite Disney characters. Check out the website to see what the latest holiday cards look and sound like.
So there you have it. I think most of the items mentioned above will continue to be popular throughout the holiday season, so I hope this gives you an idea of what to add to your Christmas list. The Yahoo! Tech team will continue to bring you holiday gifts lists, so stay tuned.
