Taryn Rose once faced the dilemma millions of women face when they're on their feet 14 hours a day, and that's finding a great pair of shoes that's both comfortable and stylish. In 1998, she changed the footwear industry forever when she launched a line of luxury shoes that quickly garnered a loyal following despite the high price tag. Her shoes have been worn by celebrities like Jaime Foxx, Oprah Winfrey, Gwen Stefani, Angelina Jolie, and Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman, to name a few. The orthopedic surgeon-turned-shoe-designer tells me she's also a fan of personal technology, so I asked her about her favorite gizmos, websites, and if she'll ever design luxury cases for the gadgets we love.

What's in your gadget bag?

I love anything new that comes out, so I’m the first to jump on it. I have an iPhone and a BlackBerry. Several laptops. Several cameras and recorders. I love gadgets!

Which gizmo can't you live without?

I can’t live without my BlackBerry, because it allows me to so much more effective with my life, no matter where I am in the world. I can be in touch with everyone, and respond quickly as if I’m in the next office, even if I’m halfway around the world. It allows me to work while I’m with my children, and work more efficiently to have more time with my children.

What type of cell phone would you recommend to a friend?

I tell everyone to get a BlackBerry.

What's the most extravagant piece of tech you've ever owned?

Technology is priceless, so I don’t think anything is too extravagant.

Will you ever design cases for laptops or cell phones in the future?

I never say never, but there’s so many good ones out there I don’t feel at the moment I can add anything to the field. I only design if I can offer a unique point of view.

Do you prefer to send text messages or make phone calls?

I prefer text messages for most communications. Phone calls are for time-sensitive issues and debating ideas quickly.

Do you have any favorite blogs or social networks?

I like Marketing Sherpa. It gives me great information backed with research.

What else do you do online?

I like to research new materials and ideas on line. I like looking at websites of new resort destinations since I love to travel. I also look at Style.com to keep up with what’s going on the runway if I can’t make it to a show.

Do you have any favorite TV shows or video games?

No, my life is enough of an adventure fantasy.

What are you currently working on?

A jewelry collection that combines technology with luxury using yellow diamonds created in a laboratory. I think it’s time we stopped mining the earth if we can create something without scarring our planet and using up needed water.
