As the holiday season creeps up on us, we need to use every bit of technology to our advantage in order to save money before the big day. There are plenty of price comparison tools available online to help us find the best deals. But did you know there are also sites that monitor price drops so that you can either claim a refund or get the best deal in town?

Girl Robot found a great site you need to bookmark on your computer. The site is called Refund Please, and it basically tracks any price drops on items you purchase via Amazon. This is a great tool for those who do their holiday shopping before stores start to lower their prices. Refund Please only tracks Amazon.com, which happens to have a price protection policy, meaning you'll get a refund if the price on an item you bought is lowered within a 30-day period.

If you prefer to buy items when their prices have already been lowered, then check out Price Drop and Price Watch:

PriceDrop is a Firefox extension that allows you to track price drops on products sold through Amazon.com. After installing the extension, you add the products you want to track to a list, and when prices drop, you get alerts via pop-up windows. Pretty simple.

PriceWatch tracks both the best deals and any price drops that qualify for the 30-day price guarantee. You have to install an application on your computer to track items on your wishlist, but once you do you get instant alerts.

For those of you who don't use Amazon, check out Price Protectr. This site tracks price drops in Circuit City, Apple Store, Sears, Staples, Costco, and Best Buy, so your chances of getting back a refund are higher.

You don't need to install the application to use the "PriceWatch" site. They also have a firefox extension and GreaseMonkey plugin that you can install. Very sweet.

Check out this Amazon price watch service at mylistwatcher.com . They monitor the price for all items in your wish list and only alert you with an email if the price of an item drop below your target price. They also provide an RSS feed. Very cool!!!!
