Those going against the flow and looking for an touch-screen phone that's not an iPhone might consider the HTC Touch. As Ben noted, the HTC Touch is finally available through Sprint starting this month, and hopefully it'll give the iPhone a little competition. The HTC's 2.8-inch screen is equipped with TouchFlo technology that, as Ben says, "lets you sweep your fingers across the screen to launch applications." It also includes a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, a microSD storage card, Windows Mobile 6 Professional, and Bluetooth capabilities all housed in a sleek, soft black phone.

While we're just getting our hands on this beautiful handset, our neighbors in the United Kingdom and Asia have had theirs since last summer. Ubergizmo even spotted an upcoming special-edition HTC Touch handset with anime-style art that will be available only in Taiwan. I'm a little peeved about always being the last to get the cool stuff, but on the bright side, this may be an indication of things to come. Maybe we'll see a similar artsy model soon. It looks so great, and while I wasn't all that excited about the HTC before, the company definitely has my attention now.

Word of advice gmsilverman: the last way to impress any woman is to call them “pretty babe”. In fact, they could find it offensive. Anyway, back to the HTC Touch. It is sounds a very capable handset and will probably sell fairly well. These pretty colours and designs will help if they make it to the states. Constantly comparing phones to iPhone is getting a bit tiresome now though. iPhone isn't the best in class, it's the only one in it's class. Despite it's well documented flaws and missing features, there is simply nothing in the world out there like it today. It's not trying to be like any mobile handset that has come before it and nor should it be judged against them. It sets its own standards. I'd give it 1-2 years for anyone to have an answer to the powerful combination of software and hardware technologies on iPhone. Then we might be able to make comparisons.
