DS Lite to Get Video Playback?

If the PSP can play video, then so can the DS Lite, or at least that's what Nintendo hopes it will do starting next year. According to Trusted Reviews, Japan will be the first to experience DSVision, which turns the DS Lite into an e-book reader and/or video player. The report says content can be downloaded to a microSD card that fits inside a DS cartdridge. Once the cartridge is inserted, users will be able to watch movies or read comic books using the dual-screen handheld console.

The idea of watching movies on the PSP never really took off, and pricey UMDs were eventually discontinued, but that doesn't mean DSVision won't succeed, especially if you get to download whatever content you want onto the microSD card.

Details are hazy, but rumor has it this card will initially be available in Japan as a starter pack that includes a 512MB microSD card and a DS cartridge adapter. Specifics, such as what kind of video it support or how screens will work during video playback, are not mentioned, so I'll update you when that information becomes available. In the meantime, tell me what you think. Do you think this is a much-needed feature on the DS Lite or something you can do without?

i think your mistaken. i've seen good quaility dvd rips under 500mb. Most are only alil over 700mb. beside i've been watching movies on my ds for alil while with the help of R4 revolution for nds lite. Video quaility is wut u can expect from a handheld device such as a ds with its little screen.

I think it is a great idea and I would love to buy it because I plan on getting a NIntendo DS Lite really soon and I've been wondering on that very subject.
