Getting a Wii under the tree this year is going to take some effort, so imagine getting a modified Wii that goes beyond a simple color change. Morpheon Mods is probably one of the few companies that can modify a Wii beyond recognition, so much so, the guys over at Rockstar (makers of Grand Theft Auto) personally asked them to work on a special Wii complete with the Rockstar logo.
Ramon Stokes posted several pictures of the final product over on his blog. The modified Wii features some type of car-like clear coating, a laser cut, a hand-polished Rockstar emblem, custom color-matched paint on the console and controllers, and LED lights around the logo. It looks absolutely fantastic!
An earlier modification called the Metroid Wii looks just as astonishing, sporting an integrated recharging station for the Wiimote on the side, a backlit custom logo, and pulsating LED lighting around the base. The custom Wii sold for $2,026 on eBay, with 15 percent of the sale going toward Child's Play.
We've seen plenty of modified iPods, iPhones, and gaming consoles, but the work put into these Wiis just blows my mind. People always want to know what to get the person who has it all. Well, I think this is a definitely a gift they would love to see under the tree.

I'm glad that some folks aren't buying the propaganda about this being being the worst economy in umpty-ump years. Nice mods - have fun & Happy Holidays.

I would love to have a Wii. At my age, 54, my kids think I am off and having "senior moments". Please, adult children, get Mom or Dad a Wii, it will keep them moving and take up some of the spare time they have because you are too busy to come for a visit!
