What if your dress or accessories told others how you feel? That's exactly what these fashion prototypes do the minute you slip them on. Part of the Philips' SKIN Probe project, the SKIN Dress gauges your body's physical (sweat and temperature) and emotional (stress, arousal, fear) response using biometric sensors embedded in the dresses' inner layer. Colors and lighted patterns are then generated and projected onto the second layer of the dress to display the wearer's mood.
Ingrid Bal from Philips' Design told the Daily Mail that the dress is programmable too, so you can change the color to red if you are angry or green if you're calm. She also says this type of technology was developed to provoke debate about emotional clothing being worn in the future.
To complement the dress, wireless mood-sensing stick-on jewelry was also developed using sensors, actuators, displays, and electronic substrates that integrate energy supply. It's definitely a strange fashion statement, but one that would attract club-goers if it ever hits department stores.
