Finding access to a public Wi-Fi network with a strong enough signal is essential, due to the proliferation of ultramobile laptops, smartphones, and now Wi-Fi-capable music players like the iPod Touch. There are plenty of Wi-Fi locators, some practical, others not so much, but having one is extremely useful when you travel or work from the road.

The problem with most Wi-Fi locators is they're small and easy to misplace, but Think Geek has found the perfect solution: a Wi-Fi-Detecting Watch. Aside from displaying the time and date like any regular timepiece, the Wi-Fi-Detecting Watch tells you if there are any Wi-Fi networks nearby and even measures signal strength on a 0 to 8 scale, with 8 being a very strong signal. I can't tell you how useful this could be for wired types, and at $30, it makes the perfect stocking stuffer this year.

I have other uses for my watch (calculator, PDA, etc), but this would be useful if it was either built into a watch band or attached (like a luggage tag) to the outside of my laptop case.

I think this is exciting,a watch telling you where to camp out to go on line.Next thing will have is a watch telling you when to go on line for the next whoo-haa report.I think Brittney and technology is just a little overwhelming!
