Splitters can come in handy when you travel, but if you're a teenager, they can be a great way to share your tunes with friends and siblings. Belkin wants you to include more than one buddy into your listening party with the help of RockStar, a star-shaped hub that lets up to five people share audio from a single music player.
The idea of sharing your music with so many people sounds far-fetched, but I can see RockStar being useful on a road trip when the kids are watching a movie on a portable DVD player. The star-shaped hub has six ports, but only one of them is input-only and used to split one signal among all five listeners. RockStar can be used with any electronic device that has a headphone jack. According to iLounge, RockStar will retail for $20 and will be available until March later this year. It's a neat idea, but I personally can't come up with a single reason to buy one. How about you?

In our soundbooth at church, we have no budget and need to split the monitor output to a cassette recorder, a CD recorder, headphones, and sometimes a video camera. Maybe this is a solution.
The sharing of iPod or MP3 player with others usually requires having an audio splitter and 2 sets of headphones, which can result in a slight loss in audio quality. ShareBuds http://www.sharebuds.com offers a solution for this issue.

Now if this ran the other way so I could pipe the audio from 3 computers into a single set of speakers . . .
