Fashion PCs are all over the CES show floor. Last night I spotted the winning laptop of the "Take Action, Make Art" global notebook design competition Chris Null mentioned a few months ago. I took a snapshot of the proud winner, 20-year-old Joao Oliveira of Porto, Portugal who created "Asian Odyssey," pictured here. The beautiful design won't be in retails stores until spring 2008.
Another lovely fashion PC I spotted was Dell's Inspiron 1525, which starts at $499. The price point is excellent for those who want a fashion PC with decent specifications, such as a 15.4-inch LCD, Windows Vista, Intel Celeron 540, an 80GB hard drive, a DVD drive/CD Writer combo, 512MB of memory, and an X3100 Intel Graphics Media video card. The Inspiron 1525 is making a splash in white, brown, red, blue, green, pink, and yellow, but if you prefer something more whimsical, check out Blossom, Commotion, Street, and Chill, which include subtle graphical accents. All were on display last night at the Digital Experience event. I'll bring be bringing you more fashion PC news, so stay tuned.

I'm glad that vendors have started producing something other than white silver & black laptops. A choice of colors might not make the decision for me, but if I'm comparing equivalent systems, it might. Besides when I paint them myself, they look cheap, and the paint I use isn't very durable.
Speaking of similar designs, for ages, in computers: Why is it that a small, thin, laptop is possible and the desktop is big, ugly and thick?
The small thin desktop IS possible- buy an iMac
I'm getting i have a thin pc now but im giving it to my little brother.... im getting this laptop in a black street color and my friend has and if you plan to get on just DON"T get vista....

Wow, that is a trick. Dell getting free ad space thanks to HP design. Come on Gina, are you the last to recognize that anything out of Austin is just a cheap knock off of another brand's innovation.
