Designer phones are always a hot topic. Prada, Armani, and countless others have lent their name to sexy handsets that are representative of their brands. Betsey Johnson's pretty in pink clamshell had her signature rose pattern, Anna Sui's fashion phone was dipped in her favorite purple hue, and Dolce & Gabbana's logo was all over the gold RAZR and its accessories.
Surprisingly, we have yet to see the House of Chanel enter the mobile market, so designer Fred de Garilhe created a phone concept he hopes will trump all others, perhaps even the iPhone. The concept is called Chanel Choco due to its resemblance to a chocolate bar, but the sexy phone has a mirrored surface that looks more like a compact you'd see at a Chanel makeup counter.
The designer says Choco integrates an optical fiber system that allows it to display images seamlessly even between two pieces of glass. There are 12 micro lighter fibers inside the phone, so when the cover slides down, the lights activate to project the image you see. This type of technology keeps the phone as light as possible. It would be years before we ever see something like this become a reality, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
The designer actually has some other very interesting concepts like the Chloe Bijoux Bluetooth headset and the famous Louis Vuitton USB memory sticks I told you about last November. I think this is definitely a designer to watch.
