Your Phone's Color Says More About You Than You Think

I've told you what the type of cell phone you own says about you, and even what your smartphone choice reveals to others, but what about the color of your phone? Forbes breakdowns it down for us in this article that talks about the emerging color trend that's got handset manufacturers churning out phones in every color.

According to the article, the new trend is to release new handsets in several colors right away, because not doing so is considered boring or makes companies look very backward. Apparently, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, was trying to make a case for colored gadgets back in the '90s, but her recommendations were ignored by the tech industry, except for Apple.

There are a few other interesting tidbits like the fact that Americans prefer simple, unadorned colors and don't care for yellow or green mobiles (except maybe in the case of the green LG enV phone that sold well possibly due to a promotional tie-in it had with Shrek). Another color that Americans like is black, although younger consumers gravitate towards light blue.

• Red: Red is for divas! Those who like this color could be perceived as dramatic, provocative, powerful, and spontaneous.
• Orange: Eiseman says you're likely to be gregarious, energetic, and optimistic, but it could also mean you're loud and frivolous.
• Pink: You're playful, flirtatious, innocent.
• Gold: Associated with wealth and luxury, therefore reflects a desire for prestige.
• Blue: Seen as peaceful, cool and clean. Also considered patriotic and professional looking.
