MacBook Air gets a dazzling $37,000 makeover

How do run a successful marketing campaign for your company, while giving really rich people another reason to spend their money? You bling the newest, hottest gadget around! I've covered luxury gadgets before (see links below), but the latest one comes from Bling My Thing who was daring enough to decorated the super-light, super-slim MacBook Air with 12,000 Swarovski crystals, all of which have a 24-carat gold surface that gives them that extra shine.

The folks over at Born Rich say Bling My Thing calls the new creation "Golden Age," only 20 will be produced since it takes a week to apply all those crystals to the lid of the computer by hand. With all those swanky crystals arranged in that beautiful elaborate design the value of the $3,000 notebook actually increases to $40,000. The golden laptop is currently on display at CeBit 2008 in Germany, and only one will be sold at Selfridges in London.
