This may or may not come as a shocker, but according to a recent FTC survey on identity theft, 16 percent of the victims said their information was stolen by people they knew, which included friends, relatives, neighbors, and coworkers. This is very important because it serves as a reminder that we need to take extra precautions whether we're at home or at work. It's probably a good idea to disable cookies, so you don't save login and password information of your accounts, and you should never keep sensitive information where thieves can easily find it.
I've gotten several emails from readers asking me how they can find out if someone has accessed their personal email account, so I thought I'd point you to an excellent post written by PCWorld's Erik Larkin on how to set a hacker alarm on your web mail box. This is a good way to find out if anyone besides you is logging into your email account.
Here's the gist:
Hackers are very clever, so you want to change your password frequently to something that's a little harder to crack.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

this don't make sense at all, i mean you sign up for this monitor thingy with a dispose email then you have to do all this things and send it to your primary email so it can monitor it. Well by allowing such thing to monitor your email account, isn't that like giving the thingy access to your personal information as well. That means more junk mails from sites associated with the monitor thingy....I'll pass on thing monitor thingy....
Hi, I have a question about setting up this Hacker Alarm on my Web Mail box. On step No 2, It tells you to save that file. However; when I save it, It goes directly to my Notepad. Am I doing this correctly? How do I make it an .htm file from txt? Can someone help me please? Thank you.

the purpose is good-willing, while the measure is not quite intriguing. according to the suggestion, one needs to scheme a AccountPasswords that attracts the hacker's eye. here is the problem. it is not only time consuming but also creatiity demanding because if hacker knows the manouver then it makes no sense. furthermore, u can only get the IP adress without the details of the intruder if he or she use the internet in internet cafe or by wi-fi. simply put, i think maybe it will help you to find the hacker, but it depends on luck. i look forward to more effective and convenient method.
I agree with a few others on here - I don't really like the idea of "baiting" someone or enticing them to go for something in your e-mail. Sounds like asking for trouble to me.... Besides, one of the great things about these web mail accounts is that it's so easy to ditch one and start up another one if you need to. I've got a couple of old ones that I just let fill up with spam, etc. and don't really check very much. Then I have another one that I do maybe 90 percent of my actual correspondence on. Then I have yet another web mail that is very very private and that I give out to *no one* except a few very close and trusted personal friends.....
not a nice idea t all. You then get a crapload of spam around all of your emails. Espescially the dude with the solution including ROBOFOR! How do you think you get most of your spam/adware and other garbage on your pc?
that would be really scary if someone broke into my e-mail!!!
If someone wants to read my Email and actually delete all of those cialis ads and watch ads, be my guest. I won't stop them.
