Forgetting essential items at home, like your wallet or cell phone, may soon
be a thing of the past, thanks to six women attending the School
of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser
University in Canada. These
students have developed a purse called the LadyBag that keeps track of its
contents using RFID sensors.
The RFID sensors are small enough affix to anything you don't want to leave behind, which the ladies assume would include your wallet, keys, and cell phone. If one of the tagged items is missing from the bag, a small icon that represents the missing object lights up on the outside of the purse to alert you before you walk out the door.
Another function of the LadyBag is its ability to display its owner's emotional state, based on physical interaction with the bag. The bag has sensors throughout, so if its carrier wants to show the world she's happy, she can hug the sides of the bag to produce a smiling emoticon. Fiddling with the zipper produces a nervous emoticon.
The LadyBag's fun, young women creators created it with fun, young women in mind. So it's perfect for those who wish to express themselves or just need a little help keeping track of their gear. I doubt it will be in stores anytime soon, since this bag is still in prototype form. But the ladies are working on making it available to all someday.

I would prefer a bag with a bright lining and that lights up when opened. Some bags come with a light which is either easy to lose or difficult to turn on. I prefer to see the contents easily rather than high tech gizmos which do not know that on certain days I need 2 sets of keys and a camera.
This sounds very cool, especially because me mother is known to loose stuff like that. She is always loosing her keys. I just think that the showing your emotion?? That's very cheesey and I don't like that part. Otherwise, very good idea, as long as it's fashionable!! No Bliss, then it won't cell. No matter what it does people won't buy it if it looks ugly. That's a fact! I also think it has to be bulky! I like how it was put that it is like the chicken & the egg paradox. ~Steph age 13
If the ladybag can show a woman's mood....it should ALWAYS be frowning. (Unless there's a sale at Macy's)
What about a device similar to this for children left in car seats, that an alarm goes off when the door is open or when the car is turned off??
it sounds very neat
I want this purse so badly. I'm always leaving my cell phone somewhere. I'm not too worried about emissions. War, global warming, and an economic meltdown have my attention right now.
Wow great bag!
I want, I need!!
WHAT WE NEED IS A LOCATOR FOR HER GLASSES AND KEYS IN THE HOUSE
I just thought of something else. What about a bag that charges our techie stuff when we are home. Just plug the bag in and phone, pda, camera, ipod are all charged while waiting to go out the door.
While keeping track of your wallet, credit card or whatever is important. Give me a break! There are other more important reasons to invent something to help society than a purse that displays your mood!
i cannot wait to get my hands on this bag! it's very inventive and functional... and the 'light-up' emoticons are really cool!
cool
I NEED one of those!!!
thats not that bad of an idea i mean i always am leaving my stuff plus i'am very shy
I really love this idea!! When does it come on the market? I seem to be always leaving something behind and to have a purse (which I never leave home without) to remind me life could be so much easier!! And I agree that it should look good!!!
How about wearing a smile on your face and then the whole world will definitely know your mood! And how about taking 10 seconds to look in your purse before you leave to make sure you have everything? Come on, ladies - we're smarter than this! I'll keep my money in my purse that doesn't have do-dads :)
This is very cute ideal I also read where a clothes designer made some designer clothes with this emotion colors changes that glowed in the dark. but he just had a show of these dresses and did not put them on the market for sale. They were ready pretty to look at. I think it came from Japan with also their showing their electronic invention they are coming out with.

I think it is awesome! Women will actualy care about their purses, treating it like a pet, or child.
