After not being satisfied with collaborating on the much buzzed about Armani phone, Samsung Electronics and Armani have teamed up once again and announced their plans to release the much rumored set of designer HDTVs this summer. Giorgio Armani recently unveiled a 1930s-inspired line of home furnishings at the Milan International Furniture Fair, where he also showed off the upcoming Armani/Samsung 120Hz Full HDTV.

According to Reuters, re-runs of fashion shows were playing on the sleek designer television, which includes a stylish remote control and a four-mode lighted power switch that customizes the Armani and Samsung logos. Those living in Europe, Korea, and Russia will soon be able to buy the designer Armani 46-inch TV, or those looking for something bigger can wait for an upcoming 52-inch set. Pricing was not mentioned, but I can guarantee you it will be more than most of us are willing to pay.

Uuh, that's truly the most uninspiring design I have seen from Samsung. That the company has turned to a rag designer for form direction for its durable goods shows the same desperation that Ford had when they introduced Bill Blass and Eddy Bauer Exploditions. This signed shirt box, when there are so many really great industrial designers out there is proof that even leaders can become jaded and nihilistic. A big thumb down.
