Dell's secret plan to release an ultra mobile PC is out thanks to Brian Lam
of Gizmodo who snapped pictures of the upcoming Dell UMPC at the D: All Things
Digital conference in Carlsbad, California. Specifications, pricing, or release
date of the very compact computer haven't been released yet, but Dell confirmed
the ruby red UMPC is real, and even posted pictures of it on its
blog.
Judging by the
pictures on Gizmodo, the computer Michael Dell calls the "perfect device
for the next billion Internet users," appears to have a decent keyboard,
three USB ports, VGA out, Ethernet port, and a card reader. Although specifications
haven't been mentioned yet, the blog post on Dell's site points to a list of
specs on Ideastorm
describing what one poster thinks the ideal Dell UMPC should have. Brian
Lam says the notebook is just as small as the Asus Eee and the HP 2133,
so we'll see when the mysterious Dell UMPC launches hopefully by the end of
the year.
