Did you recently buy an iPhone only to discover a new version was about to
be released? Fear not, AT&T's got you covered. Gizmodo and Crunchgear
confirmed a few things that weren't mentioned at Monday's keynote.
Glenn Lurie from AT&T Mobility (via Crunchgear) says that if you bought an iPhone after May 27, 2008, you're eligible for an iPhone 3G upgrade when it goes on sale July 11 at no additional charge (except maybe that $10 increase in your data plan). He didn't give any other details, so I'm assuming you return it to the store where you bought it. If that's the case, this may be a good time to look for your iPhone receipt.
As you know, early adopters who want to buy an iPhone will have to sign another two-year agreement. Gizmodo says that the new agreement will overwrite your previous agreement with AT&T, so you'll only have two years left on the contract as opposed to three or four. This is definitely good news, since I'm sure the iPhone 3.0 will be out before your new contract is over.
More details to come, so stay tuned.Â

GUESS I'M SOL! BOUGHT MINE IN APRIL 2008 - SPECIFICALLY ASKED ABOUT NEW PHONE. ATT SALES REP DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT - WENT TO EUROPE LAST MONTH - NOTHING WORKED. UNHAPPY IN FLORIDA WANTS UPGRADE/DISCOUNT FOR ANYONE THAT BOUGHT IPHONE UNDER SUCH CONDITIONS IN PAST 90 DAYS/
So the people (myself included) that purchase in April are to be screwed over, I knew of the new model but couldn't wait since my old phone was no working like it should. I don't care about the new phone just offer a download to bring my I phone up to snuff. I paid 399 and don't mind just whish they would upgrade the software, ring and speaker volume and such items. Not worth it, if you really wanted 3G iphone so bad, just go sell it to ebay, it still sell 600 to 700! and use that money to cover your new iphone.

AT&T $10 increase on 3g Data plan is not good!! We are already paying extra $10 in our bill from those taxes.
