Eyeglass wearers looking for a stylish Bluetooth 2.0 headset should check out Samsung's WEP301. I got my hands on one and I've been using it for a couple
of weeks, so here are some impressions:
At first sight, the WEP301 looks like a small, boring headset because there's really nothing about it that sets it apart, unlike the new Jawbone headset. Aside from that, I do like the fact that it's simple, compact, and reasonably thin. Inside the package was a travel adapter, earpiece covers, removable earhook, skins, and user manual. The WEP 301 is good for up to five hours of talk time per charge, and 80 hours standby time.
If you're not a fan of silver, Samsung's got you covered with six interchangeable custom skins so you can match your headset to your outfit. I slapped a pink one on the headset for fun, and everyone that saw me wearing it in public complimented it, so those skins really transformed it.
The earpiece itself is a bit thicker than most, which I found a bit uncomfortable, and because I have small ears, it took some time to adjust the quirky detachable ear hook which I thought was a little too big. However, the sound quality was surprisingly good. Most people I called couldn't believe I was on a headset, and I could hear them clearly on my end.
I occasionally wear glasses, so I tried the headset without the ear hook and had no problems keeping it in my ear because it's very light. Overall, I'd say this is a decent headset for anyone, considering the $40 price tag. It sounds good, looks good with skins, and for eyeglass wearers, it works like a charm.
