The gals over at Spoiled
Pretty say both Estée Lauder and Lancôme are releasing battery-operated
mascara tubes this summer. Now I'm a gadget-lover willing to try other battery-operated beauty gizmos, like heated lash curlers or lighted tweezers, but I'm too squeamish to put a vibrating mascara brush that close to my eyes.Â
Nevertheless, Estée Lauder is releasing TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara this summer which vibrates 125 micropulses per second to fill your lashes with a gel-based formula that solidifies upon contact with your lashes. It's set to launch at Saks Fifth Avenue stores starting July 17 with a retail price of $30 each.
Lancôme is also debuting a high-tech mascara called Ôscillation. Jean-Louis Guéret, creator of Ôscillation, said he came up with the idea of a rotating brush after watching makeup artists at work moving their hands in a zigzag pattern when applying mascara. The brush he created vibrates 7,000 micro-oscillations per second, and is activated by squeezing the outer tube which turns on a 3-centimeter motor. Ôscillation will be out this fall so look for it in stores then.
Apparently, spinning mascara is the new thing in the beauty world, and some say L'Oreal and others are working on their very own battery-operated mascara too. Spinlash is literally creating some buzz out there, so here's a video if you want to see it in action. This one runs for about $15 at Target, and you get to use your own mascara if you prefer.
