A while back, I told
you the best way to keep GPS thieves at bay was to keep mountable GPS systems
out of sight. The mistake most people do, though, is hide the GPS system in
their glove box and leave the GPS mount attached to the window. This results
in broken windows, ransacked cars, and angry GPS owners who now have to replace
a window and buy another GPS system.
Some tipsters in my previous article mentioned their use of a bean bag dash mount, and Red Ferret spotted one that looks pretty useful and affordable. The Bracketron Nav-Mat GPS Dash Mount is a small bean bag that turns any windshield mounted GPS into a dash mounted system. Like most bean bags, the weight distributes evenly throughout for stability, and it safely attaches to any surface due to a non-slip base.
The Nav-Mat can support most GPS systems regardless of size, and tools aren't required since it includes a metal mounting surface that works fine with most windshield mounts. The best part is you can hide the bean bag under your seat and avoid those telling suction cup rings on your windshield. You can find the Nav-Mat GPS Dash mount online for about $30 or less.

Sir, While I agree with your goal I can not agree your method. I notice no where in your article did you mention how this bean bag was secured to the vehicle. I would hope that you are not just placing the bean bag anywhere in the vehicle without making it fast somehow to the vehicle. I have seen the results of lose objects that was in a vehicle. Some of which weighed less than a pound, became flying objects an accident. Results "Hard metal objects met soft tissue and an eye could be lost. Thank you
I've used one of these bean bags for over a year and never had it slide off of the dash. However, when I attached my GPS to the windshield it did become a flying object more than once.
"The mistake most people do, though, is hide the GPS system in their glove box and leave the GPS mount attached to the window. This makes it sound like one would get a broken window ONLY if they put it in the glove box. As if keeping it on the window in plain sight won't. @tdallas09139: I'm not so sure she appreciates you calling her 'sir'
I bought the bean bag mat from Radio Shack for $20. It just sits on the dash and really stays put. I couldn't use my GPS mount on my dash and in California we aren't suppose to mount anything on the windshield. Easy to use and easy to move made this mat a great purchase for me.
Want a camera that knows how you feel? the Sony T70 can tell when you are saying "cheese."

I bought one of these at Amazon for under $12. It's wonderful! It stays firmly in place and doesn't distract me from driving at all.
