If you're looking for a new iPhone 3G and you live in Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin, you might have to try a little harder to get one. Fortune's Apple 2.0 blog says all three models of the iPhone 3G sold out in these states according to information gathered from Apple's iPhone 3G availability widget.
Reports indicate that Apple sold one million iPhones this past weekend, and those numbers keep climbing as demand continues for the faster, cheaper upgrade. Apple's own site says shipments of the iPhone 3G arrive daily and availability is updated nightly after 9:00 pm, so before you head out to your local Apple store, you might want to call or check the website to make sure your trip isn't a waste of time.
You also want to make sure you arrive early and bring along your ID and AT&T account number if you're a current customer. Getting an iPhone 3G activated is done in store, so make sure you plan for that extra time as well. Ben included a few more tips in his survival guide, which you might want to read before driving to another state to get one.
Anyone in the states mentioned above having problems finding an iPhone 3G? Let me know in the comments below.

I ordered my I Phone 3g from the ATT store on Flagler Street and 82nd Avenue in Miami last Friday. I paid $15.00 for expedited shipping. Yesterday (Tuesday) I received an e-mail telling me that my I phone had arrived. I picked it up in an hour and the phone was activated immediately. It was worth not waiting in line. I believe that there is a seven day wait now.I love my new 16G white I phone, no dock, the old one does not fit. Apple sells the new docks for about $30.00. My Me synchronized all my contacts right away, and I Tunes did likewise with my music. I had I Mac before, the Me program is awsome. Files can be read from anywhere.
