Wii Music makes air guitar cool again

Watch out Rock Band and Guitar Hero, because Nintendo's Wii Music is hitting the stage later this year. Casual gamers looking for a less stressful way to play some tunes will appreciate the simplicity of Wii Music. IGN says the game is more like a musical sandbox for players to interact than an actual game that requires any skill to play, so that should give you an idea of how casual the game really is.

Using the existing nunchuck and Wiimote controllers, gamers will be able to play more than 60 different virtual instruments including the piano, violin, and saxophone. You won't need any extra drum-shaped controllers, but if you already own a Wii Fit, you'll be able to use it to play the kick drum and high-hat. Playing the instruments is easy since you'll be holding the controllers while moving your hands as if you were playing the real thing.

No music set list has been revealed, and I'm not even sure there is one, but IGN says players will be able to play tunes from Super Mario and other Nintendo classics, which were demoed onstage at the E3 video game conference in Los Angeles. This game can be played in single or multiplayer mode, so expect this one to be a party hit. Pricing and availability information have not been revealed, so stay tuned for more details.
