Hands-free law offenders get $20 off new Jawbone

Several organizations gave away hundreds of Bluetooth headsets after a hands-free law went into effect in California and Washington state on July 1st. One of these organizations was Headsets.com, who gave away hundreds of stylish Plantronics Discovery 925 headsets that still retail for $150 in stores. Unfortunately, the catch was you had to present them with a ticket you got for breaking the new hands-free law, which I still think is a little backwards, don't you?

These promotions were on a first come, first serve basis so all the handsets might be gone by now, but Aliph is currently running a similar promotion to help residents living in Washington, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and California purchase one of the sexy new Jawbone headsets.

Like Headsets.com, Aliph will reward drivers who get busted for breaking the hands-free law with, get this, a $20 discount towards the purchase of a $130 Jawbone headset. To get your discount, you have to purchase the headset through the website and enter your ticket number.

Now I don't want to encourage any bad behavior, but I entered a series of random numbers in the "Ticket Number" field, and the website said it had "successfully verified" the ticket number, so I really doubt a real verification process is in place. Just saying.
