Ok, we've been hearing plenty about these new
"checkpoint friendly" bags, and even
got photos of what some may look like once they get the TSA thumbs up, but
I think it's time someone out there made them available so we can stop holding
up the line at the airport.
I got an email from Mobile Edge who informs me it will be releasing three new checkpoint friendly bags later this summer (still waiting on details with an exact date).
The trio is part of the ScanFast Collection that features a briefcase, a backpack, and a messenger bag. These cases have already been approved by the Transportation Security Administration, and are now bonafide checkpoint friendly products that allow travelers to pass through security without having to remove laptops from the cases.
It seems to me all the basic styles are covered by Mobile Edge, which gives us some variety, although all three bags seem pretty plain. But that should be expected, since the TSA did set specific design guidelines for these new type of bags. Check them out if you travel a lot, and keep an eye on them because they're expected to hit stores this summer.

lol
I agree with the guard comments. I think LapStrap is the only design that is going to ensure any consistency. I haven't been stopped yet...
TSA tested the Aerovation Checkpoint-Friendly Laptop Bag in May-Jun along with several others. The Aerovation checkpoint-laptop bag was put on the market and many have been sold but TSA is not guaranteeing that their personnel will be trained before the middle of September. This bag is available now but TSA is not. Aerovation has lapped the field by designing, developing, testing, manufacturing the first checkpoint friendly laptop bags long before the competition. http://aerovation.com

So the conversation will go: guard- remove your laptop, me- don't need to, it's a checkpoint friendly bag. guard [putting on rubber glove]- you wanna argue ?
