Recover your phone with Cellphone Hero

Not long ago, it was estimated that over 600,000 laptops are lost each year at airports, and the number of mobile devices is even higher, so one company has launched a service that promises to protect, recover, and replace your mobile devices from theft and loss. To get started, you'll want to visit Yougetitback.com to check out the service that allows you to remotely lock your cell phone if it ever ends up in the wrong hands.

The service isn't free, which means you'll have to pay $20 a year to basically download software, register your device, and have the ability to retrieve contact information remotely if the phone is ever lost. For added protection, you can even lock the device from your account in order to prevent thieves from making calls or accessing your email.

This should work well and at least give you some peace of mind when it comes to protecting your personal information, but if you're serious about recovering your phone, you'll have to purchase an adhesive ID tag which has instructions for the person who finds it. This tag costs an additional $10 and is good for at least three years.

The company estimates that 75 percent of all lost or stolen devices have a chance of being recovered if they are tagged and registered with this service, but if they're not, they say they will replace your device if you subscribe to a premium service. This service currently works with a few phones like the BlackBerry, and soon an iPhone version will be available.

The company offers a similar service for laptops called “Laptop Superhero,” so those of you traveling a lot might want to check it out.

Isn't it true that, even if you Flash your CDMA phone, there are features of your existing phone that will not work with the MetroPCS account (in other words, flashing is not 100% compatible)?

I have Metro PCS but refuse to re-charge it each month. I enjoyed the service for about 15 minutes, till I went outside their coverage area which seems to be everywhere.Until they can expand their calling area I suppose I will just be without. Thanx Metro....

Finally a way to get a better phone! Sorry but I haven't seen a quality phone come out and it's about time! BUT I have to say the Quality of the calls are great, you have to be crazy to stay with the other high price company's to have the same quality "maybe even better". I can think of only one reason why I would ever leave Metro PCS and that would be because of location and not having any signal, but even that has grown!
