Back in June, I told you about Dell's plans to release
several netbooks, now under the Inspiron name. These mini-computers are
similar in price and size to the Acer Aspire One and Asus' EEE PC netbooks,
which are designed for students, travelers, and people who want to blog, check
email, and visit social networks on-the-go.
According to a report over at Information Week, the so-called Dell Inspiron 910 may finally be making its debut this Friday. Dell hasn't released many official details regarding specifications, but the laptop is said to have an Atom processor, Windows XP, an 8.9-inch display, three USB slots, VGA output, and a memory card reader. Information Week says the 2.2 pound netbook might support a 16GB solid state drive, and Gadgetell posted "leaked" images of the Inspiron 910 keyboard that appears to have no function keys.
Rumors regarding this netbook have been around for months now, so I really hope Dell at least reveals more details regarding specs on this notebook. Like I said before, Acer dropped the price on its Aspire One netbook to $349 making it the best deal around, but those of you thinking about buying one should at least hold off until Friday in case the rumor is true. Apparently, the 910 will be available in many colors and should start selling for under $300. We'll see.
