Having an iPod dock is not extremely necessary, unless the dock happens to
also have a built-in DVD/CD player, a five channel amplifier, six speakers,
and a subwoofer. Philips introduced the space-saving CinemaOne home theatre system at the
IFA electronics show last week, and will hopefully launch it here in the U.S.
soon.
The CinemaOne can play any type of movie including DivX, Mpeg, and WMV straight from your iPod or the built in DVD player. Once hooked up to the big screen, you can see and control all your media using the included remote control. The best part is movies can be upscaled to 1080p HD resolution and transferred to the big screen via an HDMI cable.
The mini-home theatre system has six angled speakers around the its body, and a 4-inch subwoofer built into the base so you won't need to run extra wires to the TV. The stylish box also has a USB port, MP3 link, auxilary input, and composite outputs. Philips fails to mention if the iPhone and iPod touch are compatible with this accessory, but I'm willing to bet it is. You can read more about it here, and stay tuned because I'm sure we'll hear more about this stylish all-in-one home theatre system.
