I got a closer look at Samsung's Rant while at CTIA earlier this week, and
I have to say the phone is going to be a must have for texters. The phone itself
measures 4.5-inches by 2.1-inches by 0.7-inches and weighs 4.58 ounces, which doesn't exactly make it the lightest mobile phone around. The Rant does have a numeric keyboard when you hold it
vertically, and sports a horizontal slide-out full QWERTY keyboard that's nicely
spaced out so even people with big fingers are able to text comfortably. Another
plus is that it has four rows of keys, unlike the LG Rumor.
The Rant is an all entertainment 3G phone that supports Sprint's Music Store,
Sprint Navigation, and Sprint TV. It's equipped with a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder,
music player, Bluetooth, GPS, expandable memory slot, voice dialing, and of
course, it supports SMS and email. One very cool personalization option is the included tattooed back cover like the one in the picture above.
Those of you on the Sprint network will see Samsung's Rant slider offered next month on Sprint's site for $49.99 with a two-year contract. The phone will also be available at Best Buy in an exclusive purple option, as well as red, and black.
