I hate my iPhone's speaker. The thing is so bad I usually have to cup my hand around it to amplify sound. Ever done that? Well Griffin gets it and plans to introduce AirCurve, an acoustic amplifier that doesn't need batteries or adapters to work. The plastic crystal cube you see pictured here is a cleverly designed coiled waveguide that collects sound and amplifies it. Griffin swears your iPhone will sound like  a full-sized speaker, but we'll have to wait and see for ourselves.

The dock still has a slot so you can run a connector cable you have to purchase separately if you want to sync and charge your iPhone. Both the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G work with AirCurve and will be available next month for the low price of $20. This ought to be a nice stocking stuffer for road-warriors who use their iPhone as an alarm. You can find more details about AirCurve here.
