Smule just released an iPhone application
that will complete your Darth Vader or Gollum Halloween costume. Sonic Vox is
a real-time voice changer that utilizes the iPhone's microphone and speakers
to make you sound like a variety of characters.
Once downloaded, you simply swipe your finger up and down the screen to change your voice's pitch, and you can even add some echo effects by moving your finger left to right. You can't use Sonic Vox to mask your voice when you make phone calls with your iPhone, but you can plug it into your computer to amplify your voice effects through speakers or to make funny calls on Skype.
I downloaded the application, and had a hard time hearing the voice effects through my phone's weak speakers so you might want to take along some sort of amplifier if you use it on Halloween. It sounds best when you listen to your voice changes with headphones, but what's the fun in that?
Sonic Vox is still a cool application you can find for 99 cents at the Apple App Store. Check out voice changer in action on this video.
