As much as we hate to be around cell phone chatters or share our Wi-Fi signal with neighbors, we rarely hear about Americans going out of their way to install technology that would block these signals. In Europe, on the other hand, people are genuinely concerned about electromagnetic waves and radiation, and seem to be more open to things like Wi-Fi blocking paint, and even clothes that block out harmful waves. Lucky for commuters, this translates into a peaceful ride home if they travel aboard quiet trains.

The Daily Mail reports that several train companies have introduced 'quiet' cars that cater to passengers who don't want to listen to a stranger's conversation on their way home. C2C rail has installed high-tech film on windows of several of its trains in order to block out cell phone, Wi-Fi, and radio signals that would encourage the use of gadgets.

Unlike cell phone jammers, this window film is totally legal because passengers have to request a seat in the quiet train and agree to certain terms in order to ride in the quiet zone. This method is simply more effective and more affordable than say hiring staff for each car. The 'quiet' cars have received widespread support according to the Daily Mail, which is a good thing for commuters who need to unwind on their way home.

Your a dumb ass ! They said quiet cars not stupid cars. There are still communication links inside the cars but no cell phones. It's amazing how people got along without cell phones tears ago. darn !

Very dangerous in emergency situations. I would rather sit through 2000 people yammering away on their cellphones, than sit a a "quiet" car that as soon as an accident happens becomes my permanent tomb because nobody can communicate to the outside from within.
