TextGuard snoops on texts, calls

Switched spotted yet another invasive tool for parents called TextGuard that allows them to track calls, read text messages, monitor online surfing habits, call logs, and even block questionable contacts on their kid's mobile. The application can be downloaded to any Windows Mobile phone or Blackberry, which then tracks all phone activity and makes it accessible to parents through a website for $11 a month.

Although this is a good tool for parents, TextGuard can actually be used by companies and individuals who want to be able to block text messages, spam, and keep their phone free of harmful spyware. But don't worry, if someone installs TextGuard on your phone, you'll definitely know about it, so it's not like someone can use it to spy on you without your consent.

It's actually a very impressive tool that unfortunately will face a lot of opposition from the person that's being monitored against their will. You can get a free download to try it out for 60 days, but if you decided to keep it you'll have to pay a monthly fee of $11 for 10 MB of storage. It's not compatible with my iPhone, but I'm looking for a Windows mobile to try it on. I'll keep you posted if I succeed.

Like any monitoring tool, this can be used for good or evil, so like Google says, "Don't be evil." At least not to your loved ones, anyway.
