How's this for generous? New
Launches has pictures of Microsoft's new fleet of "InfoWagons"
outfitted with desks, computers, and Internet access that brings technology
training opportunities to the people of rural China. One of the buses even has
a projector mounted on the ceiling for presentations or perhaps even watch some
movies.
These “InfoWagons” are part of a pilot program that brings technology to people who have never seen a computer before. Microsoft has donated eight of them to the Unlimited Potential program, which includes 15 computers onboard, as well as other technological goodies. You can read all about this program here.
I initially thought these buses were for employees, but it turns out they're for a better cause. As commuter buses, these shuttles would've been great for workers since they would help them spend less money on gas, and would eventually lead to shorter days if they could also log in to work earlier, but alas, having all that technology in a moving bus wouldn't be too safe, would it?
I know people here in Silicon Valley who have to fill up their gas tank twice a week because they have to drive at least an hour to work, so I'm sure they'd appreciate one of these high-tech commuter buses even if that means working during the commute. Google already has a similar service for its employees, but I doubt it'll count commuting time as part of the work day any time soon.
What do you think of these so called high-tech commuter bus? Should more companies offer this service?
