Forget the iPod this holiday season. If Apple doesn't drop prices on its players on Black Friday, then you should look into buying a Zune music player for a loved one now that Microsoft is dropping prices on all its flash-based players in order to make them more affordable during the holiday season. Prices on the 80GB and 120GB Zunes will remain the same though.

Zune Insider reports the portable player, which closely resembles the iPod nano, will be selling for $100 (4GB), $140 (8GB), and $180 (16GB). These players sync wirelessly with your PC, have a 1.8-inch color display, include a built-in FM tuner, support videos, games, photos, and are available in several colors. The company is also slashing prices on several accessories including docks, AV and car packs.

Zune marketing director Adam Sohn told CNET the price drops were to ensure a good holiday season. Apparently, the price cut takes effect this Wednesday in the U.S. and on Friday in Canada, so keep an eye on this sale if you're considering going Zune.

Greg, have u ever owned a Zune? I do, and I think its more user-friendly than ipods, as I have owned both. Zunes are way more original, and you can personalize way more than with ipods. Apple doesn't make the best players just because you say they do; Microsoft is just as good.
