If you've been staring at that small Plasma or LCD sitting on a TV stand because you can't quite figure out how to mount it on the wall, well you're in luck today. I found a good "How to install flat-panel displays" guide for Do-It-Yourselfers.
The guys over at The Home Theater Blog wrote a great step-by-step guide after helping a friend wall mount a Panasonic LCD.
Besides what's the point of having a sexy flat-panel display if you have it sitting on a TV stand?
To me the hardest part of doing this would be running the cables through the wall. It appears that fish-tape is the big secret behind pulling all those wires behind the drywall, and through the new wall cutout.
So if you're feeling a bit courageous, then read the guide and decide if this is something you can do with the help of a friend. Otherwise, you won't have a problem finding professional help.
Just keep in mind that doing so can be very pricey. Wal-Mart shows a $498 price tag to have a professional do this for you!

Bad article, did it take like 2 minutes to write it? Clearly no clue what it takes to professionally install a television. No mention of calibration, no mention of insurance, no mention of anything of value. Makes me wonder if the the writter has any ties to the links that are in the article? Wal-mart only does it if you buy their televisions. The article on The home theater blog web site is lacking. If anyone follows these instructions and the television comes crashing down I suggest suing both the home theater blog and this writter for not taking time to look into this further before making this recommendation. The instructions are wrong, inaccurate and could cause the television to come crashing down on your children. Spend a little and get a professional to install your big screen.
i hope all of you know that bare hanging your tvs on the wall urself that u are voiding the manufactures warrantys
People living in the Denver metro area can save quite a bit of money on flat screen mounting by using Audio Video Professionals. www.AVProsColorado.com
The Logitech 1000 universal remote is a beautiful device, but it's a little on the overkill side if ...

Great article. We just bought our first plasma screen tv this Monday. And "yes" it's still sitting on the stand but we'd love to prop it above the fireplace if those pesky wires/cables don't make it look tacky. ~Maya
