Print Lovin' on Your Toast

You might remember the "Virgin Mary" cheese sandwich that caused quite a stir when it sold on eBay for $28,000. Well, last week I stumbled upon the Holy Toast miracle bread stamper, a plastic stamp that leaves a Virgin Mary impression on toast.

I know people create food sculptures all the time, but I think a toast stamping club may be forming somewhere out there.

Adam over at Sci-Fi Tech says the Zuse is the wave of the future. This conceptual toaster printer burns black and white pictures onto pieces of toast. It can mount on any wall, and is automatically activated when you slide in a slice of bread.

Unfortunately, it only prints abstract pictures held in its memory, but Adam says he would like to see it do some toast messaging.

Now that companies are using text messages to fire employees, I think one less texting device is a better idea. I sure wouldn't want a picture of Donald Trump doing his cobra hand thingie on my toast.

I love toast, but I'm not sure we need to have images printed on it. What do you think?

Well I think it's cute. Wouldn't you like to wake up to toast that says "I love you" on it from your spouse? Or toast the words "Good Luck!" on your daughter's bread when she has a big spelling test? Yes it's silly, who cares though, it's fun! Do you guys not like to have fun? = (

Imagine waking up to breakfast in bed at The Hilton and seeing an ad like "Save 15% Off Your Next Stay" printed on your toast. Just another unique form of advertising coming your way America!

Sweet, now we can all get free toast. Once Corporate America recognizes our breakfast as a new adverstising media, we can all eat Wal-mart, Home Depot, and Chevrolet branded toast.

It makes burnt spots on toast. I'll take my toast done evenly throughout, thank you.

seems like a dumb idea because it looks like we need a spelling and grammar fixing machine way more than a toaster.

Personally, I do not think that we should waste good technological ideas on such wasteful things. Technology is more suited to figuring out things like how to cure diseases, not printing things on toast. I also think that it was a waste of time to even make a toaster like that. It's wasting money, time, labor, and again, ideas. Besides, it's just going to be eaten anyway. I understand it could be used for the benefits of entertaining a child, but there are already companies that print pictures and messages on waffles, fruit snacks, and other things. Isn't this taking it a bit to the extreme? I say leave it up to the commercial companies that already came up with the idea. On another note, I never knew companies started using text messaging to fire employees. I have to laugh at that one. That's about as bad as breaking up with a significant other through e-mail. I have heard of that one, though I prefer to do it in person. Or, in cases wher the two people can't meet, over the phone. Well, that's my comment. Pretty long, but it was necessary.

haha! I work dayshift at a restaraunt where the servers are frequently up in arms over another server stealing their toast. They've started to cut their toast in special ways to ward against thievery (i.e. they will cut off the crust, or a corner, or something like that). Some have joked about getting a stamper to punch out stars or hearts the toast so they know which is thiers.. So in this circumstance I think this toaster would be perfect! Each server could put their names on their own toast or something. Otherwise I suppose this toaster is pretty pointless..

Was this article written as an opinion or by a staff writer because it is not very well done. The toast thing, however, is pure brilliance in theory, but I would never actually buy it.

This is a creative yet useless device and concept. Cant people come up with somthing more productive and usefull for everyday people? Who really wants a picture on their morning toast except children? I think Adam of sci-fi tech needs to be more productive/creative. I dont think that pictures on toast will do anyone any good.

At least if you got fired through a toast-text, you'd have something to show for it; in addition to a final pay check, you'd get a snack! Plus, bosses would start saying "Let them eat toast" meaning "Fire them"; so we'd introduce some historical references to the work environment and increase cultural awareness. So we should raise a toast to toast and embrace it freely!

I think it would be a cute idea for kids. Mine would love it!

Anything to get kids to eat breakfast. Could also be a good marketing tool. Banks used to give toasters away when you signed up. Even better, now it would have their logo. (Using bread to make bread $)

Who ever invented this definitely had too much time on his hands; but as for being totally useless, maybe not. What wrong with having a little fun, or even a laugh, when you start your day? After all, just reading about it made me laugh. Not to mention the assistance it will be to mothers who are trying to get their kids to eat healthier by eating whole grain toast instead of white. (I probably would have went for it then). I still remember my mom cooking pancakes in the shape of turtles and bunnies. I'm 53 now.

I use to work at Mervyn's and we sold Hello Kitty toasters that toasted Hello Kitty's face on the bread. Pretty Crazy! We actually sold them all too!

I agree, it is very cute. It makes me hungry and happy all at the same time ;)

  • 85 Posted by nomiannzhere on Thu Sep 3, 2009 7:40PM EDT Report Abuse

I think it's cute, but just for the "moment." When I go after my toast...it's not what it already has on it that makes me want to eat it, it's what can I put on it ... and that makes me love to eat it and smile!!!
