A couple of years ago, I thought Wouldn't it be great to download content to my iPod while on the road? I'd still love to see a wireless iPod player that would allow you to access iTunes, sample and buy songs and videos without connecting to a computer. I'm sure this has crossed your mind.
Then I heard rumors that there was such a project in the works, but it's been almost two years and I haven't seen this yet. CNet's Rafe Needleman wrote about an upcoming Wi-Fi enabled music player we can expect to see sometime this year. Zing showed off a prototype player that has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios built in.
What's so cool about that? The player allows you to download music wirelessly while you're out. Say, you just heard a great song and want to buy it, you can queue it up on your player and the next time you're within range of a Wi-Fi access point, it will be downloaded to your player. If you try to download songs while outside Wi-Fi range, they'll be queue up and processed the next time you do connect.
You can also check out what your friends are listening to, play samples and then download the music to your player. This way you're always in the know. Pretty cool huh?
After you've grown tired of your downloaded music collection, you'll also have the option of listening to streaming Sirius Satellite Radio. I'm pleasantly surprised by this move, and will most likely get one.
We can expect to see these type of players under the Sirius brand shipping out later this year.
I'm crossing my fingers.
Our team is on it and we should have everything back to normal shortly. Please come back soon.
