Signs of a Trend Gone Bad

The whole Swarovski crystal thing was cute back in 2004, and maybe part of 2005, but enough is enough people! We need to regroup here, and stop others from blinging everything in sight. And please, pass this message along to LG Electronics, which is about to release the Art Cool series of appliances encrusted with sparkly designs from Korean painter Seung-rim Ha.

Why must they ruin a good refrigerator or washing machine with frivolous Swarovski flower power? I'll pretend I didn't see any Swarovski-covered Sidekick 3s on the street—because they don't know better—but how do you ignore ostentatious, in-your-face home appliances? The kicker is that LG invested $30 million in this project!

I can buy a bling kit for less than that, and create a work of art on my fridge. Then again, I'm not crazy.

What's next, a Swarovski-covered vacuum cleaner?

If you really want to make your refrigerators somewhat hip, LG, just replace that ice dispenser with a beer dispenser. That'll get my attention.

i AM IN AGREEEMENT WITH YOUR VIEW MOST HEARTILY. I HAD TO RE-THINK WHAT I REALLY WANTED. JUST LAST WEEK I FOUND OUT MY WHITE APPLIANCES LOOK FINE, MATTER OF FACT, THEY LOOK VERY GOOD. SOME LIVING ROOM FURNITURE WOULD BE NICE THOUGH.
